NEXT GIG.........
October 1st - Five Bells Pub - Colne Engaine
Gig reviews - our opinions of course !
29th Aug 2010 - The Angel Inn at wangford - what a great atmosphere, lovely pub and landlord. Just a short 30 min solo gig for Adrian as Iain would have been working. All in aid of the RNLI - thankyou Steve and a greta welcome from the punters - pity it was so bleeding cold outside !21st Aug 2010 - Thanks to Val for the call to play at a private party at the Steamboat, we hit the ground running, and sounded awesome that night. Played with my new custom built Harp Amp, 4W of pure class A sound into a 60 year old 12" speaker in an Ampro Projector case - the sound I've been looking for for years - I'll have to bottle it! If you find this blog and you're interested check out Lone Wolf Harp Amps
19th Aug 2010 - Thaks to Steve Hawthorne for the invitation to play at the Break On The Border club at the Anchor in Stratford St Mary, great crowd, great atmosphere, sandwiched between Hazey Mazey and Adrian Nation we had a good night. Food looked good too so had lunch there the following weekend !
24th Apr 2010 - One of those gigs at short notice "can you play a Stag night in a rented house somewhere in the Suffolk countyryside" Oh yes we can, and what a fantastic night we had. The sound was superb, the captive audience brilliant, and we were pretty hot too. Thanks to Will for booking us, we really had a great time, and hope the wedding goes well.
10th Apr 2010, - Thanks again to Nigel for a lovely welcome and a appreciative and friendly audience all in the intimate atmosphere of the Bildeston Kings Herad.
12th Feb 2010 - Five Bells Colne Engaine, Another great welcome from a great pub, landlady and crowd. A stunning job by Iain who played with only 5 strings for part two after going crazy during part one. He'll almost certainly bring two guitars in future !
24th Jan 2010 - Station Arms Southminster, Yet another great night A superb pub and atmosphere. If you are ever down Southminster way check them out - especially the wood stove in the barn. Thank you Martin.
24th Dec 2009 - Greyhound at Lavenham, Another great night - thanks to a lovely crowd and mine host. Great pub - check it out when you get a moment.
13 Nov 2009 - Five Bells Colne Engaine, Fantastic night, fantastic crowd and landlady! What more can we say. Thanks to everybody who turned up and the appreciation that you showed. We hope to be back in the summer of 2010
3 Oct 2009 - Cherry tree Yaxley . Excellent pub and superb landlord ! Absolute pleasure to play at the Cherry Tree, they wondered which asylum we had come from but we don't care ! Adrians voice was a bit knackered towards the end having been singing and playing at the Condom rally that afternoon, and completely shatterd the next day! Thanks again Andy.
28th Aug 2009 - The Haywain beer festival. Always a pleasure to play at this pub. Thanks to all the friends and family who also turned up to support. And thanks to Stuart Tizzard for sitting in with us on this one - great guitar and vocals !
11th Aug 2009 - The Bull Colchester Thanks to Dave and Lee for the gig, we enjoyed ourselves and the sound was fantastic - it's just a pity the pub was quite - but then again it was Tuesday night I suppose
12th July 2009 - Saint FM live broadcast Thank you Tim and Pete for such a great evening and excellent hospitality, we had such a good time. The CD is superb and the recording of the "Scrotum Song" is fantastic, we're gonna have to use that on the new CD without doubt. Check out a video from the broadcast here
19th June 2009 - Museum EA Life Beer Festival What an awesome night ! We had such a great time. Thanks to a huge and very supportive crowd. Finishing off the night with the Scrotum Song went down brilliantly. We hope to be back next year.
30th May 2009 - The Haywain Another great pub tucked away in the Essex countryside with a brilliant landlord and landlady and a really welcoming and pleasant bunch of punters. We should be back there at the beer fest at the end of August. Thanks Andy & Dawn.
22nd May 2009 - The Old chequers We just get better and better and what a gem of a pub! Tucked away in the Suffolk countryside 30mins from Ipswich. The audience were fantastic and so appreciative and we sold a few CD's. Thanks to Shaun for such great hospitality and the menu looks so good. Check this pub and their food out, apparemtly all sourced locally, we'll be back there soon to try it out for ourselves.
9th May 2009 - The Emperor A great night ! Thanks to the landlord and the punters for such a warm welcome, kind comments and a great goodbye ! We hope to see you again sometime soon. Many years since I'd been in this pub and a great improvement in how it used to be.
28th March 2009 - Bildeston Kings Head An excellent little pub with a great landlord and friendly atmosphere. Much smallet than it use to be but that may be an improvement. A real pleasure to play there and we hope to be back later in the year - thanks again Nigel!
5th Dec 2008 - Five Bells Great Cornard. Another great little pub with a few friendly locals, but oh so few ! A Friday before Christmas and the place was practically empty a sign of the times I guess. Many thanks to the two drunks who turned up and gave us some great material with their heckling. It livened things up, they stayed till the end, asked us to play more and bought a CD ! Not bad as they admitted that they were only going to stay for one drink.
27th Nov 2008 - White Hart Aldeburgh A luvverly pub with a great atmosphere and landlord - Thank you Chris for your hospitality. We hope to be back there in the new year and probably start playing earlier when theres more punters about.
10th Oct 2008 - Fox n Fiddler - What an awesome gig !!! Has to be one of our best so far. Thanks to a fantastic audience, but we were pretty hot that night. Thanks also to Geoff the landlord for making us so welcome. A real pleasure to play there and we hope to be back sometime soon.
14 Sep 2008 - Ipswich Peace Festival - Another great gig at the Steamboat, we played well and sounded good. Thanks to Paul Haley the sound man for that. Also a real pleasure playing alongside and amongst such other brilliant performers. Belinda Gillet, Mr Christopher, Caution Horses and of course Litmus. Also, once again some really great feedback from the audience which is what it's all about. Thanks everyone.
6 Sep 2008 - The Steamboat - Great gig supporting a great band Salt Dog. What a nice bunch of guys ! Thanks for the loan of the guitar lead. Amazing how you can have a lead for years believing it to be invincible, and even work on the sound check - then dies as you start to play. never trust technology, however simple. Also thanks to Val, what a great landlady and treats the musos so well. Nice compliments from the punters - all very much appreciated.
9 Aug 2008 - Kesgrave Music festival -The weather was dreadful, can't be helped though ! Any outdoor event is at the mercy of the elements and the short taster set we did on the main stage in the field was incredibly difficult with the wind and rain blowing at us. However, the stage team did an excellent job and the on stage sound was pretty good given the 2 minute setup time. We were then looking forward to doing our full 45 minute indoor set in the "Live Lounge" . What a disaster and highy embarrasing. The sound guy seemed to have no idea what we meant when we said one of the mics was not working and there was no on stage monitor for the guitar. Why was he there ??? It has got to be, without doubt, the worst gig we have ever had the misfortune to play on. Oh well it can't all be good.
14 Jul 2008 - Live recording at BBC Suffolk. We had fun ! Many thanks to Stephen Foster for the invitation and David Butcher for doing the sound. We recorded 5 tracks along with an interview and these were broadcast the same week. However, one track, due to the fact that it's about an Ipswich brothel probably won't be broadcast ! Even with the toned down lyrics.
6 July 2008 - Ipswich Music Day - great event and a great crowd, in enthusiasm if not numbers ! But we were tucked out the way a bit on the Acoustic Stage. A pity about the rain, although we did bring the sun out. Very odd playing 100 feet away from your audience but we're told that the sound quality was superb. Special thanks to Dave Livermore for the photo shoot - really appreciated !
28 June 2008 - Ipswich R&B Club - That felt good - we really enjoyed ourselves and thanks to Kevin and Linda for keeping the club going. It was good to meet up with Ed from Wicked Grin and many thanks to John Adams for allowing us to plug into his PA - it saved a bit of work and humping speakers around. Also special thanks to Claudia Barth for taking such a superb set of photos - a total suprise !
6 June 2008 - Strangers Home Blues Festival - A fantastic night - thanks Stuart and what a great crowd. We followed the Ramon Goose Band who played a blinding set. It must have been a good night - we even got asked to sign CDs' !!!!
23 May 2008 - Walnut Tree Stowmarket - Really nice landloard, but the smoking ban is having a real impact on the local pubs and he's leaving. I wonder if anyone in government cares how badly the local pub trade is being affected by that piece of legislation. I'm sure there must have been an easier solution.
16 May 2008 - The Crown Inn, lovely little pub and with a great landloard a chef. Can't remember who was playing on the filthy CD that the chef was playing to us after the gig but it had some superb material on it ! - we hope to return there sometime soon.
May Bank Holiday 2008 A busy weekend two gigs on the 3rd May at Ye Olde Bell and Steelyard in Woodbridge one at lunchtime and one in the evening - a really great crowd in the evening and some very nice feedback from the audience. Thanks to all those that came down. Also we played at the Mayday Festival in Alexdra Park in Ipswich, another great crowd - pity that their PA failed on one side but never mind - s*** happens.
